Heavy-Duty Boat Shrink Film for Outdoor Storage

Heavy duty boat shrink wrap for outdoor storage is an affordable alternatibve to indoor boat storage. It effectively protects your boat throughout the winter in Hayden, Coeur d' Alene, and North Idaho. Our professional boat shrink wrapping services protect your investment during winter storage from snow, ice, wind, rain and debris common throughout the Inland Northwest.

Rain & Snow Protection

Protect your boat from rain and snow during the off season. A properly wrapped boat with the correct pitch keeps the North Idaho snow loads off your boat throughout the winter months.

UV, Sun & Wind Protection

Even during winter, UV rays can still affect your boat. Shrink wrap blocks UV rays and helps protect your finishes. Because it is heat-sealed, shrink wrap won't tear like a tarp might in windy weather.

Debris Shield

Shrink wrap protects your boat from pine needles, sap, bird droppings, leaves, and other debris that can accumulate during the off-season.

Mold & Mildew Protection

When your boat is properly cared for and vented for adequate airflow, shrink wrap is an affordable alternative to indoor boat storage preventing mold, mildew, and freeze damage throughout the winter.

The Professional Marine Difference

Built for Harsh Elements

Shrink wrapping your boat or jet ski during North Idaho's off season helps protect it from weather damage and preserves your investment. Sized for smaller vessels and full size boats alike, our shrink wrap services gives every watercraft a custom fit. Professional Marine is redefining marine standards with a 6-step process that ensures your boat is properly protected all winter long.

1
Sized for smaller vessels
We accommodate all sizes of watercraft, including jet skis, personal watercraft, and full-size boats.
2
Prevents rodent access
When sealed correctly, shrink wrap limits entry points so critters can't make a home in your boat during the winter months.
3
Custom fit for each boat
Compared to tarps or covers, shrink wrap conforms tightly around your boat and won't damage it during wind storms.
4
Heated indoor, non-heated indoor, and outdoor options
Choose the storage environment that best fits your needs and budget.
5
Winterization and summerization on-site
Full seasonal prep services available right where your boat is stored, no trailering required.
6
Pick-up, delivery & flexible spring launch
We come to you for haul-out, transport, and drop-off throughout North Idaho and we'll book your spring launch in advance so your boat is ready when the season opens.
Boat Shrink-Wrapping

Real Customer Story

Last winter, a Hayden Lake boat owner tried to save money with a DIY shrink wrap kit from a big-box store. By January, heavy snow had collapsed the wrap onto his boat, crushing the Bimini top ($2,800 replacement), cracking the windshield ($1,200), and tearing the captain's seat ($650). The $600 he "saved" on professional wrapping cost him $4,650 in repairs—plus his boat wasn't usable come spring.

When Should You Shrink Wrap Your Boat?

Timing matters when it comes to boat shrink wrapping in North Idaho. Here's what you need to know:

Ideal Shrink Wrapping Timeline

  • Late September - Early October: Best time to schedule. Weather is still mild, our schedule can still be flexible, and you'll beat the rush, depending on weather.
  • Mid-October - Mid-November: Peak season. We're extremely busy during this window. Book early to secure your preferred date. Weather can be unpredictable.
  • Late November - December: Last chance before winter. Weather may be challenging, wet boats slow down production. (Drying fees may apply)

Before Shrink Wrapping: Winterization Checklist

Your boat MUST be properly winterized before we shrink wrap it. Shrink wrapping does not protect against freeze damage from non-winterized engines or systems. Make sure you've completed:

  • Engine winterization (fogging, fuel stabilizer, antifreeze)
  • Water system antifreeze (freshwater tanks, heads, showers)
  • Battery removal or tender connection
  • Fuel tank filling (prevents condensation)
  • Interior cleaning and moisture removal
  • Cabinet and storage compartment opening (prevents mildew)

Don't have time to winterize your boat? We offer complete winterization services and can handle everything before shrink wrapping. Call us for a bundled winterization + shrink wrap package.

What's Included in Boat Shrink wrapping service?

Why Professional Shrink Wrapping Matters

We've seen plenty of DIY shrink wrap jobs and bargain basement wrapping over the years. Here's why professional shrink wrapping is worth the investment:

Common DIY & Cheap Shrink Wrap Failures

  • Improper support structure: Snow accumulation collapses the wrap onto the boat, causing damage to towers, Bimini tops, windshields, and upholstery
  • Poor ventilation: Trapped moisture creates a greenhouse effect, leading to mold, mildew, and interior damage worse than no cover at all
  • Low-quality wrap material: Cheap plastic tears, becomes brittle, and fails mid-winter, leaving your boat exposed
  • Insufficient heat shrinking: Loose wrap flaps in the wind, makes noise, works loose, and eventually fails
  • Missing or inadequate strapping: Wind gets under the wrap and rips it off completely
  • No door access: You can't get into your boat all winter if you need to check on it or retrieve items

What Professional Installation Provides

  • Engineered support: Properly designed support systems that handles the North Idaho snow loads
  • Premium materials: 6-7 mil marine-grade shrink wrap with UV protection (not hardware store plastic)
  • Proper technique: Even heat application creates tight, custom fit without damage
  • Strategic ventilation: Calculated vent placement based on boat size and design
  • Quality guarantee: If the wrap fails due to installation issues, we'll make it right
  • Insurance coverage: We're fully insured if something goes wrong during installation

Common Questions

Boat Shrink Wrapping FAQ

How long does shrink wrapping last?

Professional shrink wrapping typically lasts one full winter season (7-8 months). Quality marine grade wrap with proper installation will remain tight and protective from October through April in North Idaho conditions. We recommend replacing shrink wrap annually for best protection, if you dont plan on using your boat.

Can I shrink wrap my boat myself?

While DIY shrink wrap kits exist, they dont supply the correct torch for you to use. We strongly recommend professional installation. Proper shrink wrapping requires specialized equipment (commercial heat guns), premium marine-grade materials, and experience with support structures and ventilation. Poor DIY jobs often fail mid-winter and cost more in damage than professional wrapping would have cost.

Do you need to remove my boat from the water?

Yes. We shrink wrap boats on trailers at our location only. Allowing us to dry your boat and shrink wrap it properly.

When should I schedule shrink wrapping?

The best time is to schedule when you are done using your boat so it is not in the fall/winter elements. Peak season is October to mid-November. We don't recommend waiting past mid November as wet weather make proper shrink wrapping difficult.

How much does boat shrink wrapping cost?

Pricing starts at $23 per foot depending on boat size, with most boats averaging $600 for complete shrink wrapping. Big cruisers and tall arches addtional fees apply.

Do I need to winterize my boat before shrink wrapping?

Yes, absolutely. Shrink wrapping protects against snow, ice, and moisture but does NOT protect against freeze damage. Your engine, water systems, and other components must be properly winterized before we shrink wrap. We offer bundled winterization and shrink wrap packages for convenience.

Can you add a door for winter access?

Yes! We can install a zipper door during shrink wrapping for an additional $50. This allows you to access your boat during winter to check on it, retrieve items, or perform maintenance. Highly recommended for boats stored at home or with easy access.

What happens to the shrink wrap in spring?

We offer springwrap removal services for $150. We remove the warp from your boat, make sure you boat is presentable, dispose of the wrap and summerize your boat if you need us to.

What areas do you serve for boat shrink wrapping?

Professional Marine's full service marine center is located in Hayden, Idaho just north of Coeur d'Alene. We regularly serve boaters from Hayden Lake, Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls, Rathdrum, Spirit Lake, Sandpoint, and Liberty Lake, WA. Bring your boat or jet ski to our facility and we'll handle the rest, including optional on-site winter storage. We can transport your boat if needed.
